What is the Etobicoke Vision Challenge?
This challenge is an open call for bold ideas, innovative solutions, and creative visions for Etobicoke’s future. Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, inclusive communities, public spaces, housing, transit, or governance, this is your opportunity to shape the conversation and inspire change.
What We’re Looking For
We want to know: If you were leading Etobicoke, what would you focus on? How would you address the challenges and opportunities that shape our community? Your vision can take many forms, including:
Written Proposals – Essays, reports, or policy briefs (up to 20 pages)
Visual Presentations – Infographics, slideshows, or data visualizations
Video Submissions – 3-5 minute pitch videos sharing your ideas
Creative Storytelling – Fiction, letters from the future, or narrative-driven submissions
Community Engagement Plans – Campaign roadmaps and action plans
This is your chance to think big, be bold, and get creative!
Who Can Participate?
This challenge is open to all Etobicoke residents and submissions will be judged in three age categories:

How Submissions Will Be Judged
Your submission will be evaluated based on:
Vision & Innovation (30%) – Does your idea reimagine Etobicoke’s future in a bold and meaningful way?
Feasibility & Impact (30%) – Can it be realistically implemented? What change would it create?
Clarity & Communication (20%) – Is your idea well-structured and easy to understand?
Community Relevance (20%) – Does it address key issues and opportunities in Etobicoke?

1. Shaping a Sustainable Future
Etobicoke faces growing climate challenges. How do we build a greener, more resilient community?
- Urban Green Spaces & Biodiversity – How can we expand and improve parks, community gardens, and natural spaces? Should we rewild certain areas?
- Active & Public Transportation – How do we make transit, cycling, and walking safer and more accessible? What would an ideal car-free zone look like?
- Sustainable Urban Development – What should future housing, commercial, and industrial developments look like? How do we balance density and green space?
- Energy & Climate Resilience – How can we make Etobicoke more energy-efficient? Should we explore district energy, green roofs, or community solar projects?
2. Building Inclusive Communities
Etobicoke is home to diverse communities. How do we ensure everyone has a voice and a place?
- Affordable & Supportive Housing – How can we prevent displacement and create more affordable housing? Should Etobicoke expand cooperative housing or land trusts?
- Social Inclusion & Accessibility – What changes are needed to make public spaces, programs, and services more accessible for seniors, newcomers, and people with disabilities?
- Youth Engagement & Education – What programs, mentorships, or creative spaces can we develop for young people? How do we help youth become active in local leadership?
- Cultural & Multilingual Representation – How can we better celebrate and support Etobicoke’s multicultural communities through arts, public spaces, or policies?
3. Addressing Key Municipal Issues
Our local government makes daily decisions that affect us all. What would you change or improve?
- Rethinking Public Spaces & Community Services – How can libraries, recreation centers, and other public facilities better serve the community?
- Road Safety & Urban Mobility – What changes would improve pedestrian safety, reduce congestion, and make streets more livable? Should we rethink road design?
- Democratic Engagement & Civic Participation – How do we increase voter turnout, encourage grassroots leadership, and strengthen local democracy?
- City Budget & Public Spending – What should our tax dollars prioritize? Are there innovative ways to fund community projects?
